Rachel Parrott from New Life Baptist Church in Northallerton tells her story in this inspiring short film. Rachel is the chair of One Northallerton One Planet, an eco-group that brings together churches from across this North Yorkshire community. Rachel shares how her church journeyed towards declaring a climate emergency and how they are engaging their local MP, Rishi Sunak.
We ask Rachel how the toolkit helped them and if she has any advice for other churches embarking on this journey.
She replies: ‘The toolkit gave us some concrete aims with a structure, plenty of good advice and lots of resources to share.
‘I would say one of the most important things is to get your leadership on board and gather a team, so you are not working alone. If that means reaching out to other churches to journey together, all the better!’
